’ DC bags a brace for Town’

Punjab United Reserves 0-3 Faversham Town Reserves. W Christian-Vale x ⚽️⚽️ Trialist x ⚽️

With no Kent County league fixture this weekend Town travelled to Gravesend for a friendly with newly formed Punjab United Reserves. Congratulations are in order for Punjab United first team on gaining promotion last weekend to the Southern Counties Premiere division impressive from Punjab back to back promotions after winning the Kent County premier division the previous season. Town kicked off at the Elite venue with a number of Reserve players unavailable for this fixture Town took this opportunity to field some trialist with next season in mind. With both Town keepers in the squad for the fixture, it was Ellis Wood between the posts for the first half. Town regulars Griffiths Mcdonald in defence lead by captain King in midfield alongside Greenway, Mchugh Bennoci and for his first start of the season Washington Cristian Vale (DC for short) the front line lead by Druggan and a Trialist. The pitch in good condition for its last game of the season had a slight slope which Town kicked down the first half. Punjab will be joining Town in the Kent County league next season and they showed their competitive side with some strong challenges. The first half was an equal affair Bennoci got in behind the defence but fired at the keeper. Druggan's headed goal from a Greenway free-kick disallowed for offside then Ellis Wood produced an excellent save one on one with the Punjab forward to keep the score 0-0 at the halftime break.
HT 0-0
Matt Bowey replaced Wood between the sticks for the second half Town started to make headway against the resilient Punjab defence DC now getting plenty of ball on the left flank. And it was DC who made the breakthrough collecting the ball on the left edge of the Punjab area DC had plenty to do but he got in front of his marker and held him off for a composed finish
0-1 Town
Town now putting Punjab on the back foot and Towns second came from one of the new trialists a well-deserved goal for his tireless energy and work rate on a good debut for Town. Town finished of the game with DC scoring his second taking advantage of a defensive mix up at the back. A good performance from the young Lilywhites against a strong physical Punjab Reserves all the new trialist slotted in and looked comfortable which is a credit to the Town players. Man of the Match DC attacked the full back at every opportunity and a second half brace.
Thank you Punjab United Reserves for hosting us and well done good performance on their first outing together good luck next season.
