“Holliday time for Town ”

Faversham Town Resreves 1-1 AFC Ashford J Holliday ⚽️55mins

Town kicked off against AFC Ashford knowing a win for both teams would see movement at the top of the table a lot at stake for the final game of the season. A Town win would move them above AFC Ashford however if Ashford take all three points they would move up to second in the table. Town not at full strength injuries suspensions, work commitments and Nan’s birthdays left Town with a depleted squad this allowed coach Paul Filmer his first start of the campaign. The game started even until Ashford took the lead after just 10 minutes a poor clearance from Town inside the area fell kindly to the Ashford forward who gave Faversham keeper Matt Bowey little chance.
0-1
An all to familiar position for the young Lilywhites behind early in a game and looking for an equaliser. Town didn’t panic and sore the half out to go into the interval one goal behind.

HT 0-1
Town started the second half brightly and scored their deserved equaliser
through Jordan Holliday getting on the end of a cross between two Ashford defenders to head past the advancing keeper.
1-1
On the 75th minute ,Town found themselves down to ten men. A through ball to forward Reece Bedford Bedford’s while trying to nick the ball before the keeper took a kick from the Ashford stopper. Bedford ending up on on the deck. After the delay due to treatment to Bedford’s injury Town thought they had been awarded a penalty the referee booked Bedford for the challenge and Greenway for his protest. Greenway already on a yellow from the first half left the field. Town had to play the last 15mins with a man down but it didn’t show as Faversham finished strong but the winning goal eluded them along with maximum points.
FT 1-1

With the lack of players on the day ,it was a spirited performance from the young Lilywhites plenty of grit and determination at the end of a challenging first season. Man of the Match Paul Filmer stepped in to the action for his first 90 minutes of the season to help the Reserves gain a point.
With Towns debut season under their belts ,the Reserves are already looking ahead to 2018/19 season. Plenty of preseason work scheduled ahead on and off the pitch with new signings to come Town have put the foundations down for the future. Thank you AFC Ashford for a competitive and good game of football and good luck for next season.
