Big defeat for Town
AEI 5-1 Faversham Town Reserves
L Druggan ⚽️
Faversham Town Reserves travelled to Crockenhill Hill to face top of the league side AEI Sports. Towns first game this year their last outing December 9th five weeks ago. Town could be excused for a sluggish start that could be expected from a long lay off but it was Town that had more of the early play. The early pressure paid off after 13 mins on the clock Liam Druggan flicked a header onto Ryan Clark who in turn headed back to Druggan who chested the ball Down to unleash a 25 yard volley into the left side of the Sports goal 0-1 Faversham a great strike.from.Druggan
Only 2 minutes after taking the lead Druggan won a penalty for Town great work down the left wing from Callum his cross found Clark who held the ball up and picked out Druggan with a reverse pass Druggan shifted the ball to his right which was to quick for the Sports defender who brought him down for the penalty. Unfortunately for Town the Sports keeper chose the right way and at full strech pushed Dan Kings effort against the upright. Faversham kept the pressure up the front three of Druggan Clark and C Leader asking plenty of questions. Sports drew level with their first corner of the game the in swinging corner finding its was into the back of the Town net.
Faversham carried on their good work for the rest of the half but on the 47th min a ball over the back caught Faversham out the Sports forward putting the ball away to give AEI the lead on the stroke of half time.
The second half barely began before Town gave away a penalty themselves the normally immaculate defender Ryan Macdonald slipping in the area and reaching out to scoop the ball back with his hand, Not even Macca himself new why. Sports scored 3-1 and within 10 minutes of the re start Town went behind again this time an own goal we won’t mention the unlucky player but his name rhymes with Kaka. 67 minutes on the clock and the last goal of the day went again to AEI sports a shot beating Town keeper at the near post 5-1
Town played well first half and could have had a 2-0 goal lead. But two lapses in concentration in the first half which AEI punished and the mad 10 minute spell at the start of the second half killed off any hope for Faversham
Liam Druggan comfortable on the ball won the penalty and capped a good first half display with a superb strike.
Thank you to AEI and good luck for the rest of the season
