Rotten luck exits Town from cup QF

Town shoot themselves in the foot with 2 OGs to exit the QF of the KitToFit Challenge Cup

The poor run continued for Faversham Town u18 lads as they exited the last of their cup competitions.
Town have been on a horrid run of late and are low on confidence so it was no real surprise that they started slowly.
To compound their woes they conceded an own goal 6 minutes into the game.
Instead of feeling sorry for themselves however, Town reacted well and grew into the game.
It was a physical game but not perhaps not the best quality.
Few chances with neither keeper having much to do.
Our hosts had started the half the better but it was Faversham who grew into the game and were looking the stronger as the half went on.
Town got a deserved equaliser after 40 minutes when George Greenway smashed in a free kick from 25 yards out.
Half time 1-1 which was the least Town deserved.

The second half was a continuation of the first half with Town more than holding their own.
With 20 minutes to go however our hosts stepped up the energy and started to dictate the game.
There were still few chances so it was looking like extra time would be needed until Town scored another own goal with less than 10 minutes left.
Losing the cup tie without our opponents scoring would have been really hard to take.
Holland & Blair did manage to score a goal of their own with moments left.
It was a terrific free kick from 20 yards to kill the game.
Final score Holland & Blair 3 v Faversham Town 1

This defeat was hard to take as over the 90 minutes Town were probably the better team.
But when you're on a bad run & the confidence is low, things don't go for you.

MOTM: Has to be split again as both deserve great credit for both their immense effort but also their quality. Toby Greenfield was immaculate yet again. Louis Bioletti was also fantastic and must have run a marathon.
Certainly couldn't fault any of the lads for the effort put in. Hopefully their fortunes will change soon as they are really not doing themselves justice.

The excellent young referee also deserves a mention today. Authoritative with good communication with the players keeping control of the game throughout.

5 sports clubs amongst winners in the Jewson Building Better Communities competition.
