Hockton signs for the Lilywhites
Faversham Town FC manager today completed the signing of Danny Hockton from Aveley.
Born in 1979, Hockton started his career at Millwall in 1996 and has been also played for Dover, Chelmsford, Crawley, Maidstone and, more notably Margate where, during his two years there he scored 52 goals in just 60 games.
Ray Turner emphasised that, whilst he was bringing a new face to the club, there were no imminent departures, insisting he wanted to strengthen the squad.
" I am delighted that Danny Hockton has decided to Join Faversham Town " said Manager Turner, adding " I was very close to signing Danny at the beginning of the season, however Bromley came in at the last minute with an offer that Danny had to take up as it also included a route into the coaching set-up also. He is a player I have been tracking since last season and patience has eventually paid off.
" Danny is a goal scorer of considerable repute, playing at the highest non league levels as well as in the football league. He wants to play and help the team push on this season and next I hope. Danny also wants to add to his coaching experience by helping some of the young players at the club.
" I am keen as a young manager to raise the profile of Faversham Town, I am very ambitious and my signings this season have reflected my ambition as we attempt to keep improving the squad. It is vital that the whole squad now shows a great desire to win football matches.
" It is important that this club continues to strive to improve on and off the pitch, of course we need to increase the amount of supporters coming through the gate, they all need to know without that support we cannot continue to grow and improve. I want to keep this squad together, we have some very exciting attacking options and I very much look forward to seeing Danny and the rest of the squad perform for the remainder of the season."
