Ray, who is building a side to compete in the Kent Youth League next

bitterly cold morning. And I know that I speak for the whole of the
club's committee when I say that it was a very proud day for Faversham
Town.

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT...the 37 teenagers who attended Faversham Town's first Under-18 trial on Sunday

"One of the great injustices of the club's decline was the fact that
local kids were denied the opportunity to play at Salters Lane and it
is great that the new regime has put that right.

"This is a really exciting phase in the club's redevelopment and we
are all thrilled that the youngsters have responded with such
enthusiasm and in such numbers.

"I've known for a long time that Faversham possesses a great deal of
young talent. Sadly, these are players we have lost to other clubs in
the past.

"But now it's obvious that Faversham Town is the place to be if you
want to play football and that has to be a good thing. We are confident
we can match the ambitions of local youngsters."

Ray and his coaching staff put the players through their paces with a
series of drills before staging a full-size trial game.

but it is early days.

"We will continue to operate an open-door policy as we look to build
an under-18 side for next season. So, if you qualify, come along, see
what we are about and try to make the team."

Ray's next youth team training is from 6.30pm to 9pm at Salters Lane
on Thursday. Next week the sessions switch to a regular Tuesday spot
between the same times.
