Faversham Town Under 18's 6 Deal Town Under 18's 1
Scorers: Aaron West (3);Chris Axford (2);Stefan Wall (1)
Aaron West completed an impressive all round display with a hat-trick as Faversham Under 18's won comfortably at Salters Lane, the team produced an impressive first half performance which saw them go in at half-time 4-1 up.
The team began the game having been without a fixture for the last two weekends due to poor weather, so it was important to get the 3 points in this home tie.
There was little between the sides in the opening exchanges, with Deal perhaps just edging it whilst Faversham settled, Deal had one notable chance early on as a good ball over the top allowed the Deal player a one -on -one opportunity as Carl Hodgson in goal came rushing to meet the player, the ball was lifted over the keeper but went wide.
Faversham began to get the upper hand in the centre of the field with Johanson and Axford, but it was down the left that Faversham started to cause real problems, Kris Richardson produced an exceptional first half erformancewith great balls from deep, and getting forward to produce some dangerous crosses.
However it was a mistake from the Deal defence that allowed Faversham to take the lead, a back pass went back to the keeper who hesitated allowing Aaron West to nip in and score his first goal.
It looked fairly comfortable for Faversham with the right side now becoming equally dominant through Cansick and Miles, but Deal were to equalise mid-way through the half, a mis control on the right hand side gave possession to Deal and a good ball through the middle was just out of reach of skipper Doyle, the centre forward dispatched his opportunity to the delight of the Deal players.
This spurred Faversham on and they produced the most dominant spell of the match till half-time, they pinned Deal back and scored 3 goals in this period.
First West added his second of the match calmly finding the bottom corner from inside the box, and then a superb strike by Axford extended the lead, the ball falling to the edge of the box and controlled by Axford before unleashing an unstoppable left foot strike.
There was still time for another goal as within a minute of the third, a move down the right was met by Pennell, the keeper parried the ball to the feet of Axford who scored his second of the match.
It was a great spell for Faversham who went in 4-1 up at half-time.
Faversham did not start the second half so well, with the players seemingly dropping their performance level.
However they were still dominating most of the possession and added a 5th, the hat-trick goal for West. Once again Faversham had got the ball wide well, there was a bit of confusion in the Deal defence and the ball fell to West who made no mistake, it was well deserved for an excellent all round performance.
Faversham made 3 changes at this point, Sparks and Richardson who both had excellent games came off with Tuesday night's first team game in mind, and Pennell made way after impressing again.
This lead to some positional changes for Faversham who then had a poor period, giving away possession too easily, and failing to go forward with any conviction. Faversham did shake themselves out of their lethargy, Danny Smith produced some good balls from midfield after coming on setting up chances for Wall, Miles and West.
The 6th goal arrived for Faversham, good work by substitute Elliot Ling down the right lead to a cross, there were two unmarked Faversham players at the far post one of them Wall collected the ball before hitting the bottom corner with his shot. This completed the scoring with Faversham winning 6-1, a good display from the whole squad.
