5th April 2006

FAVERSHAM TOWN chiefs are in talks with the Kent County League after
Terry Cordice's title chasers were told to end their campaign with two
games in three days.

The Lilywhites have just four matches left to play in the race for
the championship and promotion to the Kent League in their first campaign
as a re-formed club.

They trail leaders Lewisham Borough by two points but could strike
for home with victory over the South Londoners at Salters Lane on Saturday,
29th April.

Yet Town - who are WITHOUT a match this weekend - now play their last
game of the season away to Sheerness East just two days later on the
Monday night, according to fixtures released on Wednesday morning.

That is the same day the club have organised an end-of-season golf
tournament for the squad, paid for by the Players' Pool, and chief
executive John Webb has launched an immediate appeal.

He said: "I have been in touch with the league to express our
frustration about these fixtures. We haven't played a single game all
season on a Monday night.

"Of course, golf days can be rearranged even though it has been paid
for, but that is not the real issue here. We don't have a game this
weekend yet we are being asked to play two games in three days at the
turn of the month.

"We note with interest that the season now finishes on 11th May.
Surely, they could have found us a more appropriate sequence of games
to finish with?

"After all, we are trying to win the league - these are vitally
important games for the football club.

"I am hoping that the league will have a change of heart. Common
sense should prevail here."

The race for the Premier Division crown would appear to be a straight
contest between Faversham Town and Lewisham Borough but Sheerness East
are also in with an outside chance.

The Islanders are making steady progress up the table after a slow
start which saw them without a game for the first two weeks of the
season.

East still have 12 games to play but can afford to lose to Town on
Monday, 1 May and still go on to claim the title.

Town's website - www.favershamtownfc.co.uk - has compiled the title
run-in for all three teams which is as follows. It includes the
long-awaited trip to local rivals Norton Sports which will now take
