IT was essential for Brett Harrison's
Faversham Town Reserves to bounce back in this Challenge Cup clash
following a poor run of two defeats and a draw.
And they did not disappoint, winning
at a canter on Grand National day. True, they were helped along the
way with first teamers Tim Holmes in goal plus Julian Beal in
midfield who opened the scoring just after the half-hour.
Town peppered the Woodnesborough goal
with shots and headers for most of the match. Many attempts were
either too high, flew wide or were straight at goalkeeper Ashmoor
who had a good game.
Tyrone Smith created the first goal
on 34 minutes, drawing Ashmoor off his line before feeding the ball
to Beal to fire home.
Jason Mills nearly burst the net with
a cannon ball shot from the edge of the area on 74 minutes to put
Town 2-0 ahead and Adam Whitehead netted the third right at the
death.
Woodnesborough were denied a
consolation goal when Tim Holmes tipped a fierce shot from
substitute Gavin Marsh round the post.
Boss Harrison was thrilled to see his
side return to winning ways as he looks forward to the
top-of-the-table clash away to The George on Saturday.
