NICKY SCOTT sent first-team boss Terry
Cordice a reminder of his goal-scoring prowess with a hat-trick
inside 55 minutes as Faversham Town Reserves secured an historic
first win in Kent League Two.
Striker Scott was on fire for Brett
Harrison's boys as they stormed into a 4-1 lead against Wells only
to endure a nerve-jangling finale as the visitors staged a late
fightback.
Town went behind on 10 minutes to a
bizarre opener with goalkeeper Tony Diment shaking his head in
disbelief after a mishit half-volley looped over his head.
They were back on terms on 25 minutes
with Scott slotting home confidently after going clear and Dave
Read's own half-volley 10 minutes later made it 2-1.
Town had former first team player Adam
Hewitson in midfield after he re-signed before kick-off and they
enjoyed a good spell heading towards the interval.
And it was no surprise when Scott scored
a third soon after the re-start before completing his hat-trick on
55 minutes.
Town's problems started when Read (heel)
and Scott (hand) were forced off injured, two substitutions which
came on top of the first-half withdrawal of Brad Chapel after he
experienced breathing difficulties.
Boss Harrison came on to do a job up
front but was forced back into midfield when Hewitson picked up a
knock and Town were living on borrowed time.
But they held on for a well-deserved win
despite two late goals from Lordswood which piled on the pressure.
Harrison said: "To be fair, I was
shocking and definitely responsible for their second goal after
giving the ball away. We were fighting for our lives at the end
there after a series of injuries but I always thought we would beat
Tunbridge Wells.
"We were made to work a little but
harder than I had hoped but I'm still pleased to have recorded our
first win. Nicky Scott was the undoubted star of the show. He took
his goals well."
