FAVERSHAM TOWN were more Faversham
United on Saturday night with the
management, players and supporters all making James Holder and John
Goodwin their star men of 2005/2006.
WIN THE MOOD...award winners (back row, from left) Ray Turner, John
Goodwin, James Holder and Garry Roberts with reserve team assistant
manager Ray Mills (bottom left), chairman Bob Mason and commercial
manager Ray Leader (bottom right)
Boss Terry Cordice could not choose
between the two players over a
rollercoaster first season back in football and made a joint award
at
the re-born club's first presentation bash.
Town supporters then voted local lad
Goodwin as their Player of the
Year but the duo finished honours even when Holder was voted
Players'
Player of the Year.
Ross Cable's incredible return of 11
goals in 19 appearances -
including five as a substitute - gave him the first-team Golden
Boot.
Popular Goodwin was jeered as well as
cheered, however, when he
picked up the Miss of the Season Award for somehow failing to find
the net from two yards at Old Roan.
Reserve team players Ray Turner and
Gary Roberts also ended up with
two gongs apiece.
Youth development officer Turner, who
will boss the club's new
youth team next season, picked up the manager's award and the
players' player while Roberts came out on tops with the supporters
before collecting the Golden Boot.
Miss of the season in Brett
Harrison's second string went to Darren
Webb.
Town's commercial manager Ray Leader
congratulated the players
before paying special tribute to Clubman of the Year Jim Moon.
He said: "Jim has been with us
right from the start of the revival
and is a real unsung hero. He has worked tirelessly week-in,
week-out
doing all those jobs that others take from granted.
"Jim sums up everything that is
good about this football club and
we thank him for all his efforts."
Holder finished the night with yet
another trophy when Town fan
Steve Bassett, landlord of the Castle at Oare, launched what he
hopes
will be an annual award, voted for among his regulars.
