In a short ceremony, Peter Williams of the Viridor Trust presented Faversham Town Football Club with a plaque to commemorate the £20,000 grant awarded to the club which was utilised to fund the 'ball stop netting' around parts of both the main and training pitches at Salters Lane.

The football club's grants secretary, Roger Bennett thanked Viridor for its generosity, and explained that the risk of a stray football hitting passing traffic or pedestrian had been significantly reduced, since the erection of the netting.

He also thanked Paul Gardiner of BSF Consulting Engineers for preparing the planning application.

He added " We cannot thank Viridor enough. Ground improvement projects such as these are way beyond our limited finances, so we are truly grateful for award schemes such as this one which benefit the community."
