FAVERSHAM TOWN'S top-of-the-table clash with Lewisham Borough at
Salters Lane this Saturday is OFF.
Vice-chairman John Webb took the decision after a Friday morning
pitch inspection, declaring the pitch unplayable.
He said: "The pitch is ok down the flanks but it's in a terrible
state down the middle. It's unplayable."
The game, dubbed "The Big One" in posters around the town, was
expected to attract a record crowd of over 450 but will now have to be
rearranged.
Webb added: "We are sorry for the disappointment but these things
happen. It's just a shame because everyone has been looking forward to
this game for weeks.
"Half-price tickets handed out to parents of the town's junior sides
and other special offers will instead be valid for next week's game
against Crockenhill. We look forward to seeing you all there."
