Town to face Harlequins for charity

Faversham Town FC have organised and will play a friendly match against Faversham Harlequins FC at the Shepherd Neame Stadium, Salters Lane on Tuesday 28th February 2012. kick off 7.45pm

The match may well be treated as a warm up for the Harlequin players prior to their Kent Cup semi final tie against NK Aces on Saturday, and will see some former Town players out at the Lane again.

Harlequin manager John Goodwin said "Players like Craig Preston, Jason Mills, Jamie Sparks and Sam Parter will all feature in the game" and then added "Julian Beale and myself may come on for a time as well.
"We will probably get beaten 10-0 but won't worry about that, we will just be enjoying ourselves!"

Faversham Town chairman Ray Leader looked forward to the friendly, adding "The football club have decided to charge £2 entry for everyone with proceeds going to the Faversham Boxing Club.
"Let's treat it as a charity match so together we can help another worthy cause in the town."

Representatives from the Boxing Club will attend the evening. The man of the match champagne is being donated by Harlequin's chairman Mark Robinson.

Shearer's back in Town

Ray Turner surprised a few people with his team selection against East Thurrock in the FA Carlsberg Trophy when posed with a personel problem. With James Peacock suspended and Ashley Brown still suffering with a knee problem, Turner had to choose between youthful inexperience or a more mature head to slot into that central defensive area of the pitch. The mature head was chosen and up stepped Lee Shearer to reprise the role he made his own during the sucessful Kent League campaign of two seasons ago.
