A match that was billed as "First against Second" was, in reality, more "Men against Boys" as Justin Luchford's Lilywhites travelled to Herne Bay to face the only side in the league with a 100% record.
Bay's impressive start to the season was soon brushed aside by an impressive Town side who totally dominated the opening 45 minutes and effectively winning the match by half-time.
From the first kick Faversham showed their intent, first to every ball and putting pressure on the home side whenever they had the ball.
The visitors took the lead on 9 minutes, Damian Abel setting up Buster Smissen who found the top right of Dan Eason's goal from just inside the penalty area.
Smissen doubled the scoreline on fifteen minutes when he headed home Shane Hamshare's long crossfield ball, Smissen's header perfectly flighted to give Eason no chance.
With the home side visibly 'shell shocked' Town bagged goal number three on 21 minutes, Dane Luchford's free-kick headed home by Lee Shearer for his sixth goal of the season.
The home side were offered a lifeline on 25 minutes - Bay striker Michael Turner was brought down inside the area. Darren Marsden's penalty being well saved by Town keeper Rob French.
Referee Richard Joss awarded Herne Bay their second penalty of the evening on 34 minutes - Dave Soutan unlucky to be penalised for a hand ball decision after the ball was blasted towards him from close range.
Marsden stepped up again only to see French drop to his left to pull off another fine save although Marsden was quickest to react and head the ball home.
Despite the setback Faversham looked as though they could score every time they pushed forward and within four minutes Town had restored their 3 goal advantage - Dane Luchford's free-kick was only blocked by Eason with the ball falling for Dave Soutan to tap home.
The second half saw Bay make all three changes as they looked to salvage something from the game and, to be fair to the home side, they did put in a better performance in the second period.
Luke Harvey netted Bay's second of the night on 80 minutes but it was a case of too little too late for the home side as the Lilywhites appeared to be on cruise control for the remainder of the match.
