A Lee Shearer penalty three minutes from time was enough to give the Lilywhites all three points as they made it six league victories in a row against Erith Town.

Overall it was an uneventful 90 minutes played out at Bayliss Avenue in front of a crowd of 39 although the visitors just about shaded it with the bulk of possession against a Docker's side who were without the league's leading goalscorer Marcus Cassius.

The Lilywhites started brightly and dominated the opening 10 minutes barely affording the home side the luxury of leaving their own half.

Dane Luchford caused the home side problems on the right side of play whilst Damian Abel and Craig Thompson posed a continued threat inside the Erith penalty area.

Abel had an early chance for Town, receiving the ball on the right side of the area courtesy of an Ashley Brown throw-in, Abel turned and volleyed - his effort flying just above Docker's keeper Jack Bradshaw.

Further chances fell to Thompson and Shearer although Bradshaw was seldom troubled as was his counterpart Carl Hodgson in the Town goal.

With neither side playing to the best of their ability, the Lilywhites upped the pace slightly in the second 45 minutes with Docker's keeper Bradshaw doing well to deny Thompson who fired in a powerful strike from the right side of play.

Manager Justin Luchford replaced the hard working Abel on 65 minutes with Chris Oyebanjo, Oyebanjo's injection of pace immediately causing problems for the Docker's defence.

With the game drifting towards a draw the visitors got the breakthrough on 87 minutes, Sean Hetterley feeing the ball down the right into the feet of Oyebanjo who sped goalward with Aaron Hayrettin hot on his heels, as the Town striker entered the penalty area Hayrettin's challenge saw Oyebanjo brought down. Referee Burman initially seemed unsure but after consulting with his linesman a penalty kick was awarded.

Lilywhite's skipper Lee Shearer made no mistake as he fired the spot kick into the right side of goal with Bradshaw already committed in his dive to the left.

As the final whistle blew referee Burman was besieged by the Erith Town players and management team all still contesting Burman's penalty call.

Another 3 points to the Lilywhites who have picked up maximum points int their last six league outings and with two fixtures remaining now look certain to have secured their best league position in over 20 years, not bad for a side that were languishing near the foot of the league table when Luchford took control of the Salters Lane outfit only sixteen months ago.

Town's final away fixture of the season sees them travel to face Croydon this coming Saturday - kick-off at 15:00.

Town's Star Man: Lee Shearer - a solid, and vocal, performance from the Captain oozing confidence and assurance.
