I would like to start this week by congratulating all the Officials and players of Thamesmead Town on winning the Kent League Premier Division title with their 2-1 win at home to Faversham. I am sure that like other recent Champions they will acquit themselves well in the Ryman League and wish them every success.

Elsewhere their nearest rivals VCD could only draw 1-1 at home to Erith Town. Both goals came within in a two minute period midway through the first half as Richard Sinden put the home side in front only for Wayne Grizzell to equailse for the Dockers a minute later.

Roy Godden of Deal Town, who visit Salters Lane next Saturday, hit a hat-trick as his side defeated bottom club Sporting Bengal 3-2. Prince Pipin grabbed both the goals for the east Londoners.

Herne Bay crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Tunbridge Wells in front of the day’s largest crowd of 125. Ade Stone (2) and Dan Jeffery were the Wells scorers.

A last minute goal from Paul Hitchin sealed the points for Beckenham at home to Erith and Belvedere after Sam Prett hit a 70th minute equaliser to cancel out a first half strike by John Maloney

Slade Green beat Lordswood 2-1 at the Small Glen with goals from Jay Wickshire and Joe Horlock. Alan Backshall hit the Lords reply.

Sevenoaks suffered their ninth home defeat of the season as they crashed 3-1 to Holmesdale. Jay Lee set the visitors on the way to victory with a second minute own goal and although Chris Walker levelled on 10 minutes Gareth Broome restored the lead within a minute. Ted Hart made sure of the points three minutes after the break.

The game between Hythe and Greenwich Borough was scoreless.

Only one game was played in Division 2 and it saw Lordswood beat Deal 1-0. Former Town striker Ricky Freeman hit Dartford’s last minute consolation as they lost the Division 1 / 2 Cup Final 2-1 to Ashford Town.

Well, that’s it for another week. As I mentioned above Deal Town are the visitors to Salters Lane next Saturday for the final game of the season but before that the Reserves make the short trip to Herne Bay on Wednesday evening in the Kent Soccer Company Floodlight Trophy. See you there!
