With Thamesmead and Beckenham engaged in the Kent Senior Trophy final today (Sunday) and VCD without a game for the fourth Saturday of the season attention at the top of the table turned to third placed Hythe Town. Needing a win at Erith and Belvedere to keep their Championship hopes alive they slumped to surprising 4-1 defeat. John Farley and Sam Prett  had put the Deres two up before the half hour mark, but Lee Winfield pulled one back just before half time. A second half brace by Steve White took the points for the home side and condemn Hythe to another season of Kent League football.

Croydon picked up their first win since December with a 1-0 victory at home to Sevenoaks, Bronek Dabrowa finding the net a minute after the restart.

Tunbridge Wells and Herne Bay drew the first of their two League encounters this month 2-2 at Culverden Stadium. All the goals came in the second half as Mike Lord and Gary Todd scored for Wells while Adam Todd and Andy Doer were the Bay scorers.

Lordswood moved up to 15th with a 2-0 victory at home to Holmesdale, who swapped places with them. Adam Douglas grabbed both goals, one in each half.

In the day’s other Premier Division game a Jimmy Beauchamp goal on 34 minutes was enough for Slade Green to take all three points from their visit to fifth placed Erith Town.

In Division 2 leaders Dover Athletic beat second placed Tunbridge Wells 3-2 and now need just two points from their remaining four games to ensure promotion to Division 1 at the first time of asking.

There were also wins for Ashford, Deal, Greenwich Borough, Holmesdale and VCD who beat us 3-1.

The weekend results leave the First Team in 12th with 31 points from 30 games, level on points with Tunbridge Wells who have two games in hand, and two points adrift of 10th placed Sevenoaks. The Reserves are eighth in Division 2 on 29 points from 23 games.

Well, that’s it for another week. There is no game at Salters Lane next weekend as the First Team travel to Thamesmead and the Reserves are without a game, but the following Saturday, 26th April, sees the final First Team game of the season at home to Deal. This will be your last chance to see the Lilywhites in action until August so don’t miss it!
