Having gone top with a mid-week win against TunbridgeWells, Thamesmead Town pulled further in front with a 2-1 win at Sevenoaks. Richard Dimmock put the visitors in front a minute after the break but Andy Constable levelled on 77 minutes. A Dimmock penalty seven minutes from time settled the matter in the visitors favour.

Hythe Town lead the chasing pack of three, all six points behind the leaders, after a 2-1 win at Croydon, the Surrey side’s 11th consecutive defeat. Mike ‘Buster’ Smissen added yet another to his impressive tally with the first in the 10th minute and Lee Winfield made sure of the points with a last minute penalty.

Beckenham were without a game so slip to third on goal difference and VCD stay fourth thanks to a 2-0 win at Slade Green. Richard Sinden and Ben Mitchell were the Vickers scorers.

Holmesdale, who we visit on Monday, moved off of the bottom with their third win of the season , 3-0 at Greenwich Borough. James Dadson gave the visitors an early lead in the fifth minute, Stuart Read and Steve O’Rourke adding the others in the second half.

The day’s two other Premier Division games both ended in 1-1 draws. Deal needed a Dave Bathgate penalty to draw level with Erith Town who had taken the lead on 32 minutes through Mark Tompkins. Erith and Belvedere also came back from a goal down at home to Lordswood after the Lords skipper Adam Douglas gave them the lead inside four minutes. Ashley Dunkley was the Dere’s saviour with a 71st minute strike.

The top four have now opened up a nine point gap over Erith Town in fifth, while we climbed two places to 11th, our highest position of the season, with our 3-1 win over Tunbridge Wells.

The weather took it’s toll in the lower Divisions, including our scheduled visit to VCD, with only two games taking place, both in Division Two. Leaders Dover Athletic picked up win number 15, 4-3 at Herne Bay and Holmesdale also won, 3-1 at home to Croydon.

Well, that’s it for another week and with both teams away for the next couple of weeks the next senior action at Salters Lane is on 12th April when Greenwich Borough are the visitors for a Premier Division clash. See you there!
