Despite the wet weather over the preceding 24 hours which saw the cancellation of our Reserves fixture at Tunbridge Wells, there was a full programme in the Premier Division this week.

Beckenham extended their lead at the top with a 2-1 vicory at home to eighth placed Greenwich Borough. After a goal less first half the experienced Lenny Piper opened the scoring for the Becks on 65 minutes with Jason Thompson extending the lead 10 minutes later. Smith pulled one back for the visitors with just two minutes remaining but the home side held on for the win.

Former Lilywhite Rikki Cable found the net four times as Thamesmead drew 5-5 at Deal to remain in second place, three points behind the leaders but with four games in hand. Richard Dimmock was 'Meads other scorer, while Mark Pollard, Danny Smith, Aaran Robinson, John Utterson and a Watts own goal made up the Deal total.

Aaron Firth also scored a hat-trick for Herne Bay as they ran out 4-2 winners at Erith Town. Defender turned forward Roy Guiver hit Bay's other goal from what looked like a suspiciously off side position, while Cho and Twinn replied for Erith.

VCD stay third with a 3-0 win at Erith and Belvedere. Leroy Huggins bagged a brace after Asley Probetts had opened the scoring in the 50th minute.

Mark Vernon also hit two for Lordswood as they beat Tunbridge Wells 3-2 at North Dane Way. Martin Difede hit the home side's other goal while Lloyd Gofton hit both the visitor's goals.

Slade Green were surprising 1-0 winners at home to Hythe, a 52nd minute Lee Barnett penalty separating the two sides, and lifting Green to 14th in the table on 10 points

The day's other game saw Sporting Bengal thrashed 5-1 at Sevenoaks, with Billy Manners, Tony Atkins, Abdul Suleiman, Toby Webb and Matt Parsons all netting for the home side. The improbably named Murphy was the Bengal scorer.

The heavy overnight rain took it's toll in Division Two as the games at Dover and Tunbridge Wells were both postponed.

In the remaining games Sittingbourne won 3-0 at bottom club Croydon, Greenwich beat Deal 2-1, Herne Bay and Ashford drew 1-1 and the Hythe v Holmesdale game remained goal less.

Well, that's it for another week.

The First Team are back in action at Salters Lane on Tuesday as we entertain Deal in the Premier Division Cup, while Saturday sees the visit of Ashford Reserves for a Division 2 game.

With Christmas approaching don't forget that we have a nice range of polo shirts available to order from the bar on match days which would make ideal gifts. I particularly like the black one if my wife is reading this.
