Hello
everybody and welcome to the first Sunday Service of what promises
to be an exciting season.
Although our
first match fell foul of the monsoon conditions that hit Salters Lane just before kick-off, all the other
matches in the Premier Division took place, including at nearby
Whitstable.
Their
game saw the fastest goal of the day as Marcus Perona scored the
only goal of the game after just 2 minutes to seal the win over Kent
League new boys Croydon.
There
was an early shock at Beckenham with last season's runners-up
losing 2-1 to Erith & Belvedere, thanks to two goals from
Daniel Beazant.
Lyndon
Guscott also scored twice for Lordswood as they inflicted the first
defeat of the season on Sporting Bengal.
That
2-0 scoreline was repeated at ThamesmeadTown who gained victory over Tunbridge Wells
thanks to second-half goals from Lee Morgan and Sam Thomas.
Just
37 people turned up to watch SevenoaksTown come from behind to grab a 1-1 draw at
home to Greenwich Borough.
A
goal by Dan Smith three minutes from time saw Deal beat Slade
Green 2-1 after Heazlewood had equalised a Marriott opener for the
home team.
At
Reachfields, HytheTown got their campaign off to a winning
start thanks to a last-minute goal from Roy Godden which was enough
to see off the challenge of ErithTown.
Well,
that's it for the first weekend of the season. Don't forget we are
playing at HerneBay on Tuesday night, in what will now be
the first game for both teams. Come along and cheer on the
boys, but if you can't make that I'll see you at Salters Lane on Saturday for the visit of SevenoaksTown.
