OUR match with Erith and Belvedere was one of five Premier Division
games to fall foul of the weather this weekend and the entire
Division 2 programme was wiped out.
Of the top four clubs only Thamesmead managed to play, and completed an
expected home victory over Lordswood 3-1. Curtis Williams opened the
scoring and both Cable brothers, Ross and Rikki, found the net for the
home side with Andy Forster the Lords scorer. This ninth home win of
the season lifts Thamesmead to second, thirteen points behind
Whitstable.
Ashley Carew, back on loan with Beckenham from Nationwide Conference
South outfit Fisher Athletic, scored both goals for them as they came
from behind to beat Herne Bay 2-1 at Eden Park Avenue. Richard Dimmock
opened the scoring for the seasiders on 40 minutes but Carew equalised
before half time. He then went on to hit the last minute winner, his
eighteenth of the season, and lift the Becks one place to ninth.
The day's only other Premier Division game ended in a 2-2 draw at Slade
Green. Ian Atkins opened the scoring for visitors Sevenoaks on sixteen
minutes, but the home team opened the second half the stronger side and
had taken a 2-1 lead by the hour with goals from Sean Malyon and Andy
Silk. Atkins then struck his second to secure a share of the points.
Well, that's it for another week. If you are making the short trip to
Whitstable on Tuesday evening keep an eye on the website for news of
any postponement.
